A Georgetown University publication recognizes Dr. Khalid Riaz, co-founder of HDF and Chairperson of HDF-Pakistan, as one of the world’s 500 Most Influential Muslims.

Georgetown University's The Prince Alwaleed Bin Talaal Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding and The Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre recently published its first edition of the 500 most influential Muslims 2009.  The Human Development Foundation is proud to announce that amongst this distinguished group is HDF co-founder Dr. Khalid Riaz.

This tribute acknowledges his years of hard work and commitment to transforming lives of poor communities in Pakistan.  It is not only the recognition of Dr. Riaz but also The Human Development model and the concept of holistic approach which has empowered many communities.

You can read the whole report at http://www.rissc.jo/muslim500v-1L.pdf . Dr. Riaz is mentioned on page 145 under the Development section of the document where development is defined as "These organizers have dedicated their lives to civic engagement, community work, activism and conflict resolution to influence communities through policy change, governance, and pushing for sustainable development."

He shares a spot on the Development list with people like Abdul Sattar Edhi, the Nobel Laureate, Mohammad Yunus and other prominent Muslim figures from around the world.
