A candle seeking light!
Miss. Iqbal Jahan is a diligent and active Social Organizer who has been working with Human Development Foundation for the last three years. Going house to house, creating awareness, and changing the mind-sets of the individuals are a part of her job description. She has transformed people’s approach towards life and brought light into the lives of children whose families previously did not understand the importance of education. She has spread awareness about the best health practices and brought tremendous changes in the lives of people of Mardan Region.
Last month, however as she went to visit her family in Swat, her life changed its course and in the mayhem that followed the fighting in Sawat, her whole family was forced to leave their home and valuables behind and travel to Mardan on foot.
A family of seven brothers and four sisters, each one of them was well placed with well paying jobs. With this strong financial back ground, they were a happy family who supported one another through thick and thin and enjoyed the simple pleasures of life.
After reaching Mardan they lived with relatives for some days and are currently living in a Government School building with nothing in the way of the basic necessities of life. Reverted to such poor conditions they have lost the zeal of life and are groping in the dark for finding a way ahead.
As the vicinity of their home in Sawat was occupied by Taliban forces, she fears her return to her home and yet, the turmoil of her current life is sapping her energy. When once she was spreading light and awareness amongst the masses, she is today in need of healing and support herself. Today, her family is surviving at the sole income that she draws from the organization and Iqbal Jahan herself is counting on her HDF family to come forward and help her in this distressing time.
