Clean Drinking Water (An HDF-ERM Partnered Initiative)
Last December, HDF began a partnership with the ERM Foundation
upon receiving a grant for a Drinking Water Supply Project in village Sathala, near Islamabad. About 400 residents are already enjoying the benefit of this partnership. In years past, farmers relied upon rain as the major driver of their local economy and women walked long distances to fetch clean drinking water. This month HDF shall complete the digging of a well in an environmentally safe and sustainable way, and going forward residents shall have a dependable source of clean drinking water and a stable supply of water to support their agricultural needs.
Project Update:
On July 23rd, 2009 Barbara Janes and her two associates visited the Sathala site on behalf of the ERM Foundation. While there, they visited an HDF Community Health Center under construction, they met with the beneficiaries in Sathala, attended a teacher training session at the HDF Regional Office in Islamabad. In her own words:
We were very impressed with HDF’s projects … [T]he health, sanitation and education programs are having a very positive impact on the villages they are serving.

We hope to develop our partnership with the ERM Foundation and, in subsequent years, serve communities all across Pakistan.
