In Pakistan, poverty and food insecurity go hand in hand—limiting families’ ability to earn, eat, and survive. Today, 45% of the population lives below the national poverty line, and over 11 million people face acute food insecurity (FAO). Rural communities remain the most vulnerable, especially to economic shocks and climate change.

The Human Development Foundation’s Livelihood & Food Security Program breaks this cycle through a holistic, community-driven approach. We equip families with the skills, tools, and resources they need to achieve stability and long-term food security.

How We Create Change

  • Vocational & Technical Training
Women and youth learn marketable skills—tailoring, carpentry, livestock management, and technical trades—that help them earn within their own communities.
  • Microenterprise Support
Aspiring entrepreneurs receive productive assets such as livestock, sewing machines, and toolkits to start small businesses, achieve financial independence, and reduce aid dependency.

The Impact

By addressing both economic vulnerability and food insecurity, HDF helps families move from crisis to stability. The result is:

  • Increased household income
  • Better nutrition
  • Stronger, more resilient families
